Hi, I'm Nicky!

I've always been drawn to places where nature seems larger than us. Volcanoes, coastlines, storms and landscapes that carry a sense of mystery remind me that the world is constantly changing through forces that are both creative and destructive, often beyond our understanding.

Painting allows me to explore those ideas without needing to explain them. I'm interested in the meeting point between the real and the imagined, where landscape becomes entangled with folklore, memory, fiction and abstraction. A painting might begin with a place I've seen, but it rarely stays there. It becomes something remembered, invented or half-believed.

While environmental change inevitably informs how I think about the landscape today, it is only one part of a broader fascination with nature's power, human emotion and the stories we create to make sense of both. More than anything, I want my paintings to invite curiosity, suggesting places that feel ancient, uncertain and quietly charged with possibility.
